With Cannes Film Festival just around the corner (I leave next week), I had to plan a proper travel packing strategy to ensure that I bring stylish clothes without over packing. My 14-day trip in Cannes will be a whirlwind event where I’ll be constantly on the run, so I took the time to carefully edit my clothes and bring comfortable and adaptable pieces for when I need to carry boxes one minute and run to a meeting the next. There’s also the occasional red carpet screenings and parties I’ll be attending that require me to bring cocktail dresses and fancy shoes. To add to the challenge, after Cannes I’m also going straight to Spain for a well deserved brake. After raiding my closet and playing dress up for a day (I made sure Anthony wasn’t there to see the mountain of clothes on our bed), here’s a glimpse of my packing strategy focused on bringing versatile, weather proof yet stylish items.
Dresses- I packed a few dresses in simple silhouette like this one from Theory and one or two easy dresses that are suitable for meetings and relaxed for the weather in Cannes. I can choose to dress it down with a simple ballet flats or a metallic flat sandals or dress up by throwing on a blazer and simple pumps.
Blazers- my top packing weapon. I have a growing collection of blazers, but for Cannes I chose the lightweight textures and colors. These 4 blazers will be on constant rotation with everything I wear. This will also keep me warm during chilly nights.
Relaxed- my everyday relaxed look will be all about lightweight tops and shirts, light washed jeans and my Isabel Marant besties (Bobby and Dicker). What is great about this look is its ability to dress it up with a crisp blazer, fedora hat, heels and pile of jewelry.
Red carpet ready- I plan to take two dresses with me to wear at red carpet screenings or a soirée. For other cocktail parties, I plan to wear my sharp suit that is very a la French.
Accessories- Jewelries are always a sure solution to update one look and it just makes any simple outfit look fun. Here I focused on bringing my favorite necklaces that I can throw on with a white tee, shirt or a dress.
